Michael Jackson - Wembley Stadium - 1988

A selection of 11 frames and 2 contact sheets from the first night of the UK leg of M.J.'s mega world tour in support of Bad. 

This marked the start of an historic, record-breaking run.

The entire tour was a global phenomenon that cemented Michael's status as the King of Pop.

The concert on July 14th was the first of seven sold-out shows at Wembley, a residency that drew a total of 504,000 people and set a new Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a single venue .

The demand was astronomical; ticket requests for the five initial July dates exceeded 1.5 million, which was enough to fill the 72,000-capacity venue 20 times over . This run broke previous attendance records set by artists like Madonna and Bruce Springsteen.

As a testament to its scale, the tour required a Boeing 747 to transport 22 truckloads of equipment, including 700 lights and 100 speakers.

A few of these would make a great triptyche or larger set.
