There is a completely different mood in this frame.

Michael has his arms stretched wide, his eyes closed and his head tipped slightly upwards. For a moment the choreography seems to disappear and he looks almost alone on the stage.

That was one of the advantages of being right at the front of the stage. I wasn't trying to photograph the spectacle of Wembley itself; I was looking for the moments when the performer became the photograph.

The huge belt and elaborate costume are still there, of course, but the expression is much simpler. His eyes are half-closed, one arm disappears out of the frame and the rest of the stage falls away into darkness.

It is a quieter photograph than some of the others from this roll.

With Michael Jackson, there was always a lot happening. Sometimes the best frame was the one where almost nothing seemed to be happening at all.
