Artwork Title: The Charlatans - Northwich Rape Field 1
My first shoot with The Charlatans and I hopped on a train up to Manchester where I was met by Dead Dead Good Records head honcho and music fanatic Steve Harrison.
We headed out to Northwich where his record shop Omega Records had its outlet and was the base for all things pertaining to The Charlatans at that point.
April in the UK sees the blooming of the Rapeseed crop with its bright yellow flowers, a perfect setting for colour photography, so we headed just out of town to find a field.
The use of cross-processing (developing colour transparency film in colour negative chemistry) results in this super high contrast colour image.
The band loved these photos and ended up using them for press photos around the release of ‘The Only One I Know’.
