Looking back at this contact sheet from my shoot with a very young Sinead O'Connor I can see my working processes.

I was less interested on this roll in animating Sinead and was working more on looking for a perfect composition using both upright and horizontal orientations of the camera.

Like a good ex-art student I didn’t like to crop images, preferring to print full frame with a filed out neg carrier so I tried to get everything right ‘in camera’.

I’d set he lighting and was looking for the slight movement of the head or tilt of the yes that brought an image to life.
