Oh so young, photographed around the time of There's No Other Way, when Blur were still being labelled Baggy or Madchester tag-a-longs rather than the band they would soon become.

This session was photographed in my shared studio at B2, Metropolitan Wharf in Wapping, long before the area became the polished riverside neighbourhood it is today. Looking through this contact sheet now, I like how quickly any attempt at a formal portrait disappears.

Within a few frames they're pulling faces, hiding behind one another and generally making it impossible to take things too seriously.

The pink chinagraph mark identifies the frame I selected for printing at the time.

Looking through these sheets still takes me straight back to that afternoon.
