By now there wasn't much left of the idea that this was simply the end of a normal gig.

Kurt's frustration with the sound had turned into a physical attack on the equipment. Guitar, drums — anything associated with the problem seemed to be fair game.

I was photographing from the side of the stage and the frames were coming quickly. There was no motor drive, no chance to look at what I'd just taken and no opportunity to go back afterwards if I'd missed something.

The only option was to keep watching and keep shooting.
